Ramaa The Saviour Movie Review: The Great Kali is now open

Ramaa The Saviour Movie Review: The Great Kali is now open: Six kids get transported into a sylvan fantasy land while playing a video game called ‘The Last Battle’. There they meet Ramaa (Saahil Khan), a Tarzan-like figure except that he’s got a bigger loin-cloth and leather footwear. Ramaa becomes the saviour of the kids as they are attacked by Kali (Taleb Ibrahim) and his tech-savvy and sexy sidekick Samara (Tanushree Dutta).

Kali is searching for a treasure that will make him most powerful. After knowing his evil intentions, Samara switches to Ramaa’s side to stop Kali from executing his evil plans. What follows is the battle between good and evil, a do-or-die fight between Ramaa and Kali.

Obvious question? Does Ramaa - The Saviour have what it takes to keep the kids - its target audience - hooked? Nah! The film’s script and screenplay is imaginative only to the extent of showing the jungle idyll - the breath-taking waterfalls, the sylvan landscape, the animals. But that’s all there is to it. The story, which ought to be most imaginative, is drab, to say the least. The final battle between Ramaa and Kali turns into a farce because it is orchestrated by kids through remote control. Director Haadi Abrar and writer Reshu Nath fail to weave a gripping tale.

Saahil Khan is all beefed up but doesn’t act. Ditto for Tanushree who doesn’t go beyond a few expressions. Taleb just casts threatening looks. The kids just do an okay job. Khali is forgettable.

All in all, a dull film.
