‘Guzaarish’ wasn't even watched by Dogs: Salman Khan

Guzaarish’ wasn't even watched by Dogs: Salman Khan: Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali might have been best of pals at one time but now the two are nothing short of sworn enemies. And it’s all owing to Aishwarya Rai starrer ‘Guzaarish’ that had Hrithik instead of Salman in the lead.

And believe it or not but Salman is going around town word-bashing Bhansali and his movie ‘Guzaarish’ in the most rough words possible. The actor said that ‘Guzaarish’ wasn’t even watched by dogs- “koi kutta bhi nahin gaya”.

It all started when Salman gifted Bhansali a DVD of Christopher Nolan’s `The Prestige`, which allegedly became the starting point for ‘Guzaarish’. However when Bhansali decided to cast Hrithik instead of Salman in the lead role, Sallu was much too angry.

And now the actor has openly spoken, rather trashed, Bhansali’s latest work on a public forum. Not mincing any words, Salman on a recent award function took sleazy potshots at the taskmaster. The actor while answering a little girl’s questions on how to make it big in showbiz said, “Jaake usko milo. Voh tumhare pe picture bana dega, khud khoob kamayega, lekin tumko kuch nahin dega,” (Go and meet Bhansali, he’ll make a film on you. He’ll make pots of money but won’t pay you a dime).

And when one person in the audience asked him for his opinion on ‘Guzaarish’, Sallu said, “Arre, usme toh makhi udd rahi thi, lekin koi machhar bhi nahi gaya dekhne. Arre, koi kutta bhi nahin gaya,”

Well, looks like it’s a case of sour grapes for Salman.

Asihwarya Rai's smoking act is a creative requirement

Asihwarya Rai's smoking act is a creative requirement: The co-producer of " Guzaarish" has justified the controversial promotional posters of the film that show Aishwarya Rai smoking a cigarette, saying it is "a creative requirement of the script".
A letter issued by UTV Software Communications Private Limited to the National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE), a tobacco vigilante organisation headquartered in Goa, has stated that Ash's smoking act on the posters was necessary. "The scene in which the character, played by  Aishwarya Rai, is shown smoking was merely a creative requirement for the script," UTV Software communications limited has said in a letter to an anti-tobacco organization, quoting a spokesperson.

Earlier, NOTE had demanded the 'smoking' posters be deleted from the promotional campaign. In a written complaint, the organisation's general secretary Shekhar Salkar had said that the display of the posters showing Aishwarya smoking could inspire her fans to take up the 'cancer-stick'.

"The innumerable posters and banners of 'Guzaarish' displayed all over Mumbai shows Bollywood icon Aishwarya Rai smoking a cigarette. There would be thousands of other scenes which could be displayed to convey the storyline of the film, yet the producer has chosen this particular one, quiet oblivious to its after-effect," Salkar said, threatening the producer and actor of the film with a legal suit.

In a written response to NOTE's caution, UTV has also said: "We understand that as a healthcare professional, it is your prerogative to oppose any activity that may promote smoking. However, whilst we appreciate your concern, we would also like to mention that the film `Guzaarish' is not about smoking and neither does it promote smoking in any manner whatsoever".

Reacting to UTV's response, Salkar said: "I have seen the film myself. There is a single scene which shows smoking incident. But the poster of the film picks and chooses the same frame in their advertisement campaign. Actually this is clandestine advertisement of a tobacco product.

"Where is the issue of showing smoking scene when the movies speaks of euthanasia," he added.

NOTE, has in the past made actors Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi among Bollywood biggies either shell out fines for their violations or dragged them to court for directly or indirectly promoting tobacco on the screen and off it.

Successful debuts with 'Guzaarish' by Sabyasachi's jewellery line

Successful debuts with 'Guzaarish' by Sabyasachi's jewellery line: Renowned fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee's jewellery line made its successful debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's just-released 'Guzaarish'. He designed the line keeping in mind a multicultural element with a nomadic vibe.

The navratan necklace worn by Aishwarya Rai in the climax of the film and other items like raindrop earrings, coral kanpashas, rhodolite balis, butterfly earrings, minakari bird ring and the turquoise and coral ring that she wears in the film have been designed by Sabyasachi and crafted by GAJA, the retail brand of Shree Ganesh Jewellery House.

'When Sanjay Leela Bansali approached me for 'Guzaarish', I realised that jewellery would play a very important role in shaping up Sophia's character as played by Aishwarya Rai,' Sabyasachi said in a statement.

'It would have to be nomadic, quirky and personalised and so I decided to bring on board GAJA in SABYASACHI (his lable) because it epitomises that spirit. The whole line has been designed by me keeping in mind a multicultural element with a nomadic vibe.'

For the collection, Sabyasachi used precious and semi-precious stones, minakari and filigree and had to work with about 60 skilled workers from West Bengal to complete the line.

The price range of rings and earrings starts from Rs.40,000 and navratan necklaces are priced at Rs.510,000

''Guzaarish' is a joint effort of one the most sensitive filmmakers, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, India's leading fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee and GAJA, the brand from India's foremost manufacturer of jewellery. It is also a matter of pride for all of us that the most beautiful woman in the world Aishwarya Rai Bachhan is wearing our jewellery in 'Guzaarish', ' said Nilesh Parekh, chairman of Shree Ganesh Jewellery House.

Box Office Report: ‘Guzaarish’ get better performance not best!

Box Office Report: ‘Guzaarish’ get better performance not best!: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s arthouse yet commercial film Guzaarish has found many takers in the metros where the movie is doing well. But as the movie lacks mainstream masala that masses seek, its box office collections are lackluster in the rest of India.
With a poor start on its first day, the film with positive reviews from the critics could not really do better on Saturday and Sunday. However, in metros like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Bangalore the audiences are appreciating the film.

The weekend collection of Guzaarish was mere Rs 14.95 crore approx. The coming days of the week will decide the film’s fate. The movie is also facing competition from Harry Porter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I. Harry Porter’s collection was also not bad; it collected approx Rs 8 crore from its first weekend.

Other releases of the week Deewangi Ne Hadh Kar Di and Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu were extremely poor at the BO. Both the movies will go unnoticed.

Coming to the overseas collection of Golmaal 3. The comedy flick is expected to finish its business with approx collection of $3.2 million. However, in India, Golmaal 3 had another huge week of Rs 29 crore approx which took its two-week total to around Rs 91 crore; it may hit Rs 100 crore mark in the coming days. The movie has been declared a Blockbuster.

Action Replayy, on the other hand, is a flop; the movie couldn’t improve its performance in the second week.

Aishwarya's 'Guzaarish' released in Pakistan before India

Aishwarya's 'Guzaarish' released in Pakistan before India: Pakistani Bollywood fans scored over their Indian counterparts for the first time when Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish was screened in that country two days ahead of its home release.

Guzaarish, starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai, was released in Pakistan on November 17, becoming the first Hindi film to be released in Pakistan before in India.

The movie was set for release in both countries on November 19 but Pakistani cinema owners began screening it earlier to coincide with Id celebrated on November 17.

The film was initially set for release on November 12 but was delayed by a week. Exhibitors in Pakistan, who had already obtained prints of the film, decided to release it on Id.

Box Office Report: 'Guzaarish' unexpected slow opening!

Box Office Report: 'Guzaarish' unexpected slow opening!: In the festive season when madcap comedies are all the rage, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s dark and broody film Guzaarish wasn’t expected to get a great opening anyway.
The film, starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, had an average, or even below average opening at many multiplexes in major cities. But as the rave reviews began to come in from critics, and the positive word of mouth from the viewers began to spread around, the film picked up in the evening shows.

Multiplexes in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Pune saw greater footfalls in the evening. The collection is likely to go up further on Saturday and Sunday.

Given the fact that the film has no major competition at box office except from Golmaal 3 which released two weeks back, Guzaarish is expected to do a decent business in its first week.

We will provide you the box office collections of the film soon. Keep watching this space.

Amitabh Bachchan and Abhi totally bowled over after watching 'Guzaarish'

Amitabh Bachchan and Abhi totally bowled over after watching 'Guzaarish': Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest film Guzaarish has left Amitabh Bachchan and son Abhishek Bachchan totally bowled over.

The film starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles did not have any lavish premiere, but a special screening at Yash Raj Studios for friends and colleagues from the film industry.

Abhishek, who was shooting in Goa, flew to Mumbai especially for the screening. But clearly one man who was most impressed by the film was Big B.

“It’s a work of art. It’s poetry in motion. A sensitive subject handled the way only Sanjay Leela Bhansali could.

He is truly a great maker. A man with incredible visual sense and sense of cinema. Beautifully etched characters, sincerely performed and all of them executing it in the most dignified and sincere manner,” Big B wrote on his blog.

“What can one say at moments like these. One is dumbfounded and almost speechless,” the superstar added.

Even sonny Abhishek was spellbound after watching the film.

“Was completely worth it!! GUZARISH is truly magical! Sanjay is pure genius. Everything about the film, according to me, was pitch perfect. It's spellbinding,” Abhishek tweeted after watching the film.

The screening was attended by Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani, among others. Everybody was full of praises for the movie after watching it.

Hrithik Roshan met a lot of paraplegics and quadriplegics of 'Guzaarish'

Hrithik Roshan met a lot of paraplegics and quadriplegics of 'Guzaarish': The story of a quadriplegic who brims with optimism but ultimately turns suicidal moved Hrithik Roshan to tears.

When director Sanjay Leela Bhansali approached Hrithik to play a magician who’s bound to his wheelchair after a near fatal accident in his film Guzaarish, the actor had his doubts. Not that he doubted Bhansali’s ability, but Hrithik doubted his own mettle to play the role with full conviction.

“I was skeptical about the role because I was evolved enough as an actor and was apprehensive whether I'd be able to translate his creative genius onscreen. But when Mr Bhansali narrated the script, he had me crying and laughing at the same time and I couldn't wait to start working,” Hrithik said about bagging the role in the film which releases today.

In order to prepare for his role, Hrithik actually met a lot of paraplegics and quadriplegics.

“Meeting those people who have survived and found happiness against all odds was most inspiring to me,” Hrithik said.

Guzaarish Movie Review on Bollywood3000

Guzaarish Movie Review on Bollywood3000: Savagely aesthetic, at times magical, at times pretentiously arty, and generously littered with melodrama that tugs at your heart one moment and cloys your senses the next, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest creation Guzaarish is a movie not to be missed for its visual splendour and a jaw dropping performance by Hrithik Roshan.
The aesthete and auteur in Bhansali levitates to a new high in this genre-defying piece of cinema that is clearly inspired by more than one foreign film, not excluding the Oscar-winning Spanish film The Sea Inside and Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige. But credit to Bhansali, who, for all the inspiration, still makes Guzaarish his own with his peculiar brand of theatricality (for which he’s often bum-rapped), uncompromising approach and a lot of heart and soul, not to forget the poignant tunes which he himself has composed.

The film tells the story of Ethan Mascarenhas (Hrithik), a bed-ridden, wheelchair-bound quadriplegic who used to be a magician once but has spent the last 14 years of his life as a breathing vegetable confined within the musty walls of a run-down villa somewhere in the rain-soaked Goa. Sophia, (Aishwarya Rai) his nurse for 12 years, bathes him, feeds him, brushes his teeth, scratches his nose when he’s itchy, and also bears his tantrums. Ethan’s only connect with the outside world is his radio show ‘Hello Zindagi’ which he jockeys.

Ironically, the man who tells others to embrace life seeks to end his own. He fights a legal case to be allowed euthanasia, or mercy killing, to end his long suffering. Ironically again, the people who stand beside him willy-nilly in this struggle are the ones who love him the most - his lawyer friend Devyani (Shernaz Patel), his doctor (Suhel Seth), his apprentice (Aditya Roy Kapoor), his mother (Nafisa Ali), his former lover and assistant (Monikangana Dutta) and, last but not the least, Sophia, whom Ethan regards as “more than a friend, lover and even wife”.

But the question is - will the court go against the constitution and grant Ethan his wish, his guzaarish?

Viewers may use a little psyching up before sauntering into a screening of Guzaarish. Bhansali’s fascination for dark colour tones isn’t unknown since his award-sweeping Black and the blue-shaded Saawariya which was an absolute clunker. Guzaarish, with excellent cinematography by Sudeep Chatterjee, carries forward Bhansali’s penchant with the nocturnal hues. The story unspools at a sluggish pace and often streams into tear-jerking episodes and flashbacks as the protagonist’s life as a magician extraordinaire is etched out.

For the most part, Bhansali retains a firm control over the narrative, but seems to go overboard in a few sequences, like the courtroom arguments and the group hug in the climax which turns out to be unintentionally comic. These warts are all but compensated for by the awesomely shot magic sequences.

More than the director, it’s Hrithik Roshan who steals the show with his humdinger of a performance. Solely through his facial expressions, eyes, and voice modulations, Hrithik brings to life the character of a self-mocking, life-embracing, death-seeking character who’s exuberant one moment and depressed the next. It would be pity if Hrithik doesn’t sweep the best actor trophies in the award season early next year. Aishwarya Rai, looking stunning in low-neck costumes that are no doubt incongruous with her character of a nurse, is in form once again. Shernaz Patel goes overboard in a few scenes and so does Suhel Seth. Aditya Roy Kapoor, the guy with a frizzy mop on his head, performs well. Monikangana is there for only two scenes.

Summing it up, Guzaarish, despite its warts, could be the best film of 2010. More than its awesome visuals, it’s the message of the film that wins you over. In pursuing his own death, the film’s hero teaches us a few things about life itself: “live fully, forgive quickly and kiss slowly”. It is Bhansali’s toast to life. Grab it. Lip it. Neck it. Be drunk with it.

Hrithik Roshan's 'Guzaarish' is dark, intense and tragic Movie

Hrithik Roshan's 'Guzaarish' is dark, intense and tragic Movie: From playing a superhero or a charming swindler, it was quite a leap for Hrithik Roshan to land himself in a wheelchair and play a quadriplegic for director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest film Guzaarish.
In the movie, Hrithik plays Ethan, a magician who is paralyzed neck down after one of his magic tricks goes horribly wrong. Aishwarya Rai plays Sophia, the nurse who develops feelings for him. The movie is a far cry from the light-hearted, slapstick fare that Bollywood keeps churning with mechanical regularity.

“Guzaarish is dark, intense with a tragic story but it is magical as it makes people smile. Ethan is the happiest character I have ever played and he puts a smile on everyone's face,” Hrithik told the reporters while promoting the film in Delhi. Hrithik also dismissed the notion that the film is a copy of the Spanish movie ‘The Sea Inside’, starring Javier Bardem.

“I had seen that Spanish movie before I read the script of Guzaarish. And for the last time, there is nothing similar between the two except for the fact that they are both based on quadriplegia,” Hrithik clarified.

When asked about his co-star Aishwarya Rai with whom he has worked in three films, Hrithik said he and Ash share a ‘perfect’ equation.

“Ten years ago, we gave our first shot together for a cold drink commercial. Our equation has been perfect ever since. Our approach to work is similar. It's great to work with a friend and there are no ego issues between us,” said the 36-year-old actor.

Talking about Bhansali, Hrithik said he enjoyed tremendous creative freedom while working with the director.

“While working with Bhansali, the kind of creative freedom I have enjoyed as an actor, I have never enjoyed in my life. He just let me fly. There were times when we used to come on sets and I used to have some thoughts in mind to add to the scene. But we used to communicate at such a level that we never sat and discussed it together,” Hrithik said.

Guzaarish is set to release on Friday, November 19.

Anxious and Excited Hrithik Roshan for 'Guzaarish' release

Anxious and Excited Hrithik Roshan for 'Guzaarish' release: The film, slated for worldwide release on November 19, released in Dubai on November 16. Prior to its release, Hrithik is anxious as to how the viewers will respond to his portrayal of a magician who, after an accident, is confined to his wheelchair.
“Today Guzaarish release begins with the middle east! Anxious and excited. Sending you all my love! Hope you enjoy it. :),” Hrithik tweeted on Tuesday.

The movie stars Aishwarya Rai as a nurse and Monikangana Dutta as Hrithik’s former love interest. It’s directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Guzaarish is like a sorround sound of 'Romeo and Juliet'

Guzaarish is like a sorround sound of 'Romeo and Juliet': To enhance the on-screen chemistry between Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has decided to include material from Franco Zeffirelli's 1968 classic screen adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet" in his forthcoming film "Guzaarish".
Zeffirelli's cult blockbuster had catapulted Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting to instant stardom and made Shakespeare's tragic romance a worldwide bestseller. Bhansali decided to incorporate original dialogues from Zeffirelli's film, forcing his efficient but flabbergasted team - many of whom had never heard of Shakespeare, let alone Zeffirelli - into a worldwide hunt for the material.

Producers UTV suggested that searching out and acquiring rights for the original Shakespearean dialogues in the voice of Olivia and Leonard at this late stage when "Guzaarish" was approaching release could prove to be tough.

But Bhansali was adamant. And with reason.

Explains the perfectionist director: "I wanted a correctly intense reference point for Hrithik and Aishwarya's feelings and conversations. I though the sentiment of thwarted passion and smothered intensity of star-crossed lovers in 'Romeo and Juliet' expressed my protagonists' inexpressible feelings very well.

"So yes I've included dialogues from Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet in my film."

But why Zeffirelli, whose "Romeo and Juliet" came 41 years ago, when those Shakepearean lines have been done a million times since then?

Says Bhansali: "To me Zeffirelli's version of 'Romeo and Juliet' is the ultimate tribute to Shakespeare's love story. So many times I've wanted to do my own version of 'Romeo and Juliet'. But one look at Zeffirelli's film makes me feel I can never equal his beauty, grandeur, harmony and principal casting. Where I'll find as perfect a Romeo and a Juliet as Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey?"

Was it easy getting permission to use material from Zeffirelli's film?

"Not really. We had to seek out people who were either long gone or in retirement. But I was adamant. This was my only chance to pay a homage to one of my all-time favourite screen romances," said Bhansali

Aishwarya Rai smoking in 'Guzaarish': Doctors protest for Youth

Aishwarya Rai smoking in 'Guzaarish': Doctors protest for Youth: A lot of posters showing Aishwarya smoking are being used to promote the film that’s slated to release on Friday. The medical community thinks these images give a wrong message to the youth who are most likely to imitate the Bollywood stars.
To show their protest, the members of Doctors For You, which is a non-profit organization, will wear black badges on Friday, the day Guzaarish releases. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has rubbished the reports about Ash turning a smoker for the film.

He says the scene shows Ash trying to smoke but coughing in pain after just one drag from the cigarette. So, according to him, in no way does the scene endorse smoking.

Hrithik Roshan keeping his perfection intact in 'Guzaarish'

Hrithik Roshan keeping his perfection intact in 'Guzaarish' Hrithik Roshan has proved himself time and again with his sheer dedication to all his characters that he has played on-screen till date. He is definitely a star by carving a niche for himself with each of his films and portraying his character with a perfect ‘T’.
Right from his debut film Kaho Na Pyar Hai to Lakshya and Krissh, he has proved his mettle as being one thoroughbred performer. So has he done with his upcoming release. Keeping his perfection intact in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish, Hrithik Roshan has slogged day and night to fit into the character of the magician that he plays in the film.

He actually ceased all his physical exercises and gym sessions for a couple of months at a stretch before shooting started. Well, you must be guessing that that why would health conscious man like Hrithik Roshan do that for? The answer to it is that since he plays the role of a magician in the film, who suddenly develops a disease and gets paralyzed, he was supposed to look the character by putting on a lot of weight.

This was definitely not an easy task for him. Hrithik who is admired for his toned physique has actually put in a lot of efforts to gain weight for the film. Amusingly the star had to eat and drink everything that a top rated star is not expected to eat like vada pau (fried cutlet and bread), samosa etc for months together.

However, this was a treat for him as he got a chance to relish all these foods to his hearts content as he must not have tasted them for years despite loving them so much. This role of a paraplegic gave him an excuse to just gorge on every bit of food that he could lay his hands on. Thus we get to see a plump Hrithik in the film.

The movie releases on the 19th of November.

Love Making Scene between Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan in 'Guzaarish'

Love Making Scene between Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan in 'Guzaarish': Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan indulged in the passion play of an altogether different kind while shooting for a scene in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Guzaarish. Since Hrithik plays a paraplegic who can’t feel a thing below his neck, a typical lovemaking scene between him and his nurse, played by Aishwarya, was clearly out of question.
What director Bhansali incorporated rather was a mock lovemaking scene, in which Ash gives a massage to Hrithik’s foot to ensure proper circulation of blood. That’s when Hrithik begins to feign the moans and sighs of sexual ecstasy. Ash too takes the cue and makes lovemaking noises - the oohs! and aahs! - in the scene.

In this way, the couple pretend having sex while not being physical at all.

According to Bhansali, the scene is funny rather than titillating.

MoniKangana Dutta's all efforts for Bhansali in 'Guzaarish'

MoniKangana Dutta's all efforts for Bhansali in 'Guzaarish':  Model MoniKangana Dutta, who’s making her Bollywood debut in upcoming film ‘Guzaarish,’ recently revealed in an interview that she never had any plans to step into Bollywood, but she did not want to let go an opportunity to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. So, she signed the film when the filmmaker approached.

"I signed Guzaarish because it was a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie. I was shocked when he called me himself and the other shock was when he offered me the movie. I readily agreed," revealed Monikangana.

The model added excitedly that she’s “paired opposite Hrithik” and is playing “his love interest."

Besides Monikangana, film features Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Roy Kapoor. Film is basically a love story and explored the sensitive issue of euthanasia and is all set to be released on November 19.

Nervous wreck
Monikangana also revealed that despite being used to facing camera everyday she was a nervous wreck on the first day of shooting of ‘Guzaarish.’

"I was very nervous. Facing the camera was not a big thing for me, the pressure was how well I can act and how well I can do justice to my role," revealed Monikangana.

However, after some time she got used to the whole thing as everyone on the sets was quite helpful.

Modeling comes first
Even before ‘Guzaarish’ pretty model was approached for film roles, but she kept refusing them as she loves her modeling job and was reluctant to switch her career.

"I didn't want to get involved into movie because I was so involved with my dreamland, my fantasy world, which is modeling. Even when I got plum offers for movies before Guzaarish, I didn't say yes because I was never in India, I was travelling across the world,” revealed the model-turned-actress.

"For me, to sacrifice all that and come down here was a huge decision. When you are at the peak of something and you are offered to change your profession, it's really a big step," added Moni Kangana.

Interestingly, the glam model clarified that she’s not regretting her decision for taking up ‘Guzaarish'.

Salman Khan against Aishwarya Rai to promot her film Guzaarish at BB4!

Salman Khan against  Aishwarya Rai to promot her film Guzaarish at BB4!: Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan have a scandalous history behind them. Though neither Salman nor Aishwarya desire to face each other again, a clash at the house of the Bigg Boss has become a seeming possibility; but a remote one.

The team of ‘Guzaarish’ wish to use the Bigg Boss platform to advertise their film.

In such a scenario, the important cast and crew members of the film would have to visit the house in a celebrity guest episode. That would mean a brief entry of Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the house.

But given that Salman is the anchor of the show, that would have put both Salman and Aishwarya in a very precarious dilemma as a face-off would become inevitable. Hence, reportedly, Salman, after learning of the deal going on between the Guzaarish team and Bigg Boss organisers, has vehemently opposed such an idea and has maintained that no promotion of ‘Guzaarish’ would be possible through the show.

Perhaps, this would even save Aishwarya from an apparent discomfort. And even though Sanjay Leela is a good friend of Salman, he may have to do away with such a type of promotion.

Guzaarish Music Review

Guzaarish Music Review: He not only visualizes his films like a piece of art, he conceives the music of his films too. The songs from Khamoshi and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam are all-time hits. Auteur Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s films have a list of songs which continue to linger in the hearts of the listeners with their dulcet tunes.
Now, after three years, he is back with Guzaarish starring two beautiful stars of the industry Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai.

This time, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has himself created the music of the film. A.M Turaz, Vibhu Puri have given words to the songs. So, shall we continue with the album which doesn’t have a single remix - an anachronism these days?

You can feel it’s raining in the background when the song Guzaarish starts. Just like the pitter-patter of raindrops casts a spell on you and makes you swoon, so is the song Guzaarish. The music with slight classical touch sounds more like a ghazal. KK has rendered this song wonderfully.

Now get your thinking caps on. Sau gram Zindagi, with its philosophic tone, refers to life - good or bad, sweet or sour. The parallel drawn between life and a cup of coffee leaves a lasting impression.

Tera Zikr hai Ya Itra Hai is beautiful not only because of its exotic, poetic lyrics, the music also works wonders. Singers Rakesh Pandit and Shail Hada add drama to the song with their voices which at times sounds like a poem recitation. Terrific! An ode to beauty!

The album keeps getting richer with its pulsating, lilting music. Now comes Saiba with a bit of Portuguese lyrics and music. A small track crooned by Vaibhavari Joshi which you would like to hear again and again.

KK again wields the microphone for Jaane Kiske Khwaab. This slow moving number is enduring as well as quite touching. The album gets a bit of pace with the number Udi. Sunidhi Chauhan, possessor of a sensuous voice, renders the track with ease. Keh Na Saku is the next. The song sounds similar to the other tracks in the album, but differs because of its melancholic mood. That’s stirring.

Chand Ki Katori has thoughtful words and simple music. Harshdeep Kaur’s voice makes the song a must-hear. With Dayein Bayein the album peps up your mood as Bhansali brings melody and slight zing to the song.

Well, it’s hard to believe that this song is sung by Shankar Mahadevan. The last song of the album is Dhundli Dhundli which captures the essence of a dusky evening and the sweet memories of the beloved.

Though Guzaarish songs can sound monotonous after you hear it for the first time, the debut attempt by Sanjay Leela Bhansali in music direction is impressive. The songs are more inclined towards poetry that’s expressionist, earthy and contemporary. And the melody is a celebration of love and life.

However, it would take some time for the listeners to sense the pulse of the music of Guzaarish. The album is one of the most passionate works by a music director in recent times.

You would like to hear - Chand Ki Katori, Dhundli Dhundli, Tera Zikr hai Ya Itra Hai.
