Priyanka Chopra's planning for her wedding

Priyanka Chopra's planning for her wedding: Priyanka Chopra says she has been planning her wedding for many years. She also has several venues finalized for the wedding.

In the second anniversary issue of the fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar, Priyanka opens up and talks candidly about various personal subjects, not the least of which is her plans to get married not once or twice or thrice but six times.

“I have been planning my wedding since as far back as I can remember! My ideal scenario is getting married six times (to the same man of course),” Priyanka tells the magazine.

Not just this, she has also decided different venues for the wedding.

“My dadaji's (grandfather's) house in Ambala - my 'big, fat Indian wedding'; underwater at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia; a church in Las Vegas - wearing a short black dress and with the priest dressed as Elvis; the intimate ceremony - at a small, beautiful church in Locarno, Switzerland. It's on top of a hill that overlooks parts of Germany, Italy, and Switzerland,” she reveals in the issue slated to hit the stands on Wednesday.

Priyanka also wants to have a nikaah because she thinks it is a beautiful, romantic ceremony.

Shahid Kapoor trying to get back Priyanka's love

Shahid Kapoor trying to get back Priyanka's love: After the nth lover’s tiff with ladylove Priyanka Chopra, Shahid Kapoor is apparently trying to win her back.

A lot of people from the film industry turned up to wish Shahid Kapoor on his birthday on Saturday. Many leading ladies of his films -- including Rani Mukherjee, Anushka Sharma, Genelia D’Souza and Sonam Kapoor -- were there. But conspicuous by her absence was Priyanka, who reportedly had a fight with Shahid and then flew to the US.

Shahid and Priyanka’s perpetually now-on-now-off relationship has been fodder to gossip mills, but sources close to the couple claim that Shahid doesn’t often express his affection for Priyanka and this ticks her off.

That’s apparently also the reason behind their latest tiff, following which Priyanka packed her bags and left to the US, caring not a hoot to return on his birthday on Saturday.

But we hear that Shahid did try to persuade her to change her mind and return to Mumbai for his birthday bash. He kept trying till the last hour, but when Priyanka did not give any bhav, he too gave up.

However, knowing well the history of their blow-hot-blow-cold romance, we won’t be surprised if they kiss and make up soon.

Priyanka Chopra ready to act with Ranbir Kapoor!

Priyanka Chopra ready to act with Ranbir Kapoor!: People heaped praise on Priyanka Chopra for her sterling performance in 7 Khoon Maaf as a victimized woman who kills her husbands. Now, the talented actress will prepare for a very challenging role of a mentally-challenged heroine to the deaf-and-dumb Ranbir Kapoor.

And see who’s helping her out in preparing for the role? It’s Shahrukh Khan, her favourite co-star of Don and Don 2.

Priyanka plays a mentally challenged girl in Anurag Basu's thriller Barfee and she has to undergo training to prepare for the role. As Shahrukh effortlessly played a man with Asperger's Syndrome in My Name Is Khan, who else better than him to help her out!

Naturally, Priyanka is excited and tells a tabloid, “If the character comes out right I'll have a lot to thank him for. I consider SRK one of the finest actors in world. To be able to spend so much time with him both on and off camera is a blessing.”

Priyanka will train for almost a month for the role and has already begun visiting schools and institutions for the mentally challenged.

Shahid Kapoor turns 30 today!

Shahid Kapoor turns 30 today!: Shahid Kapoor, the cute dimpled boy of B-town known as much for his bone-bending dances as for his blow-hot-blow-cold romance with Priyanka Chopra, turns 30 today.

We hear, the actor is going to celebrate his birthday at a suburban Italian joint but his ladylove will be conspicuously missing from his side. Rumour has it that the lovey-dovey couple has fought once again and called off their relationship for the umpteenth time.

But knowing how whimsically they make up after every lover’s spat, we won’t be surprised if PC indeed decides to shock Shasha by wishing him personally on the special day.

Shahid has lately been busy shooting for dad Pankaj Kapur’s film Mausam in which he plays an Air Force pilot. The actor recently even flew the American combat aircraft F-16 at an Aeroshow in Bangalore.

Shahid’s last film Milenge Milenge with ex flame Kareena Kapoor tanked at the box office but he tasted success with the Yash Raj film Badmaash Company last year. Now, with Mausam he’s hoping to add another hit movie to his filmography.

Checkout Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor's century of love!

Checkout Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor's century of love!: A befitting tale for the lovey-dovey couple who can’t seem to have enough of each other. Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor could not have hoped for a better film than one chronicling 100 years of romance.

Director Kunal Kohli is readying to direct his next film which will be an out and out love story spanning a time period of 100 years. The lead roles in the film will be played by Priyanka and Shahid, who, as everyone from the movie buffs to income tax guys know, are in a relationship.

When Priyanka heard the narration of this century-long love story, that too with Shahid, she was reportedly so thrilled that she made changes in her dates diary to accommodate Kunal’s film, likely to go on the floors in May this year.

Presently, Kunal is finalizing the shooting locations for the film. He hasn’t zeroed down on the movie’s title yet, but is open to suggestions.

How about ‘Pyar Ki Century’?

'7 Khoon Maaf', a winning vision by Vishal Bhardwaj- Priyanka Chopra

'7 Khoon Maaf', a winning vision by Vishal Bhardwaj- Priyanka Chopra; Chalk up an absolute winner for the Vishal Bhardwaj-Priyanka Chopra team. They make a coherent vision out of an inconceivable marital crises.

How do you make sense of a woman who's an incorrigible potentially-loathsome serial spouse-killer who when challenged about her weird passion for changing husbands by divine decree rather than the law of the land, turns around and says, 'This heart of mine, it's to blame.' Wicked laughter follows. And dammit, we are amused!

How does one make head or 'tale' of such a woman? Well, the first thing a director with a canny sense and sensibility does is sign Priyanka Chopra to play the wretchedly unfulfilled, genetically incomplete woman, a living, throbbing warning against the institution of marriage!

Priyanka, not for the first time, proves she is leagues ahead of all competition. She approaches this strange and sensual creature of the night from the outside and then quietly makes inroads into the woman's heart and soul. We can actually see the character's snarled inner-world on Priyanka's face! We don't even know when and how she does it. Priyanka is that kind of a player.

Vishal Bharadwaj has earlier made films about gangs and gangsterism. Every time the dark brooding atmospheric surface seemed to suggest a life of sinister suppressions. Those unspoken, intangible thoughts and visions that often guide a human being to his or her doom are outlined in '7 Khoon Maaf' with supreme poetic elegance.

This is Bhardwaj's most fluidly-narrated film to date. Of course, having Gulzar on board helps. He pens Urdu poetry for Irrfan Khan and rock poetry for John Abraham. For Priyanka poetry is not needed. She creates a kind of indecipherable poetic statement for her deeply dysfunctional character who kills 6 husbands and moves to the 7th at the end of the film with the profound satirical grief of a woman who has discovered that this world has no true love to offer her.

True love...ah! Now that's an idea. At heart Vishal's dark elegiac film is about the search for true love. The relationship that Sussanna (Priyanka) forms with a young boy(Vivaan Shah) as she goes from one husband to another remains at the core of the film. In a macabre subversion of the almost-pure love that Susanna shares with Vivaan's character, at one point in the narration she tries to seduce the boy who's almost like a son. It's a dark ugly moment, almost repugnant in its incestuous resonances but in keeping with the character's insatiable appetite for destruction.

Vishal Bhardwaj brings to the storyboard a deep sense of tragic grandeur even as Susanna slips from self-gratification to delusional spirituality.

Priyanka Chopra has already proved herself way ahead of her contemporaries in her earlier works notably 'Fashion' and 'What's Your Raashee'. In '7 Khoon Maaf' she moves to another level, displaying a range of emotions and age-changes (minus prosthetics) that one last saw in Shabana Azmi's performances.

Priyanka's sequences with Irrfan Khan (playing a gentle poet who transforms into a sexual pervert in bed) are stuff poetic nightmares are made of. We can clearly see the cinematographer (Ranjan Palit) is not in love with the actress, but the character. His camera searches for intransigent images in Susanna's life, even as Priyanka's quest for the character's core takes her into areas of self-expression that are far beyond the reach of cinema acting as we know it.

A. Sreekar Prasad edits the life of Susanna with a surety that, alas, the character never comes close to achieving in her dealings with the opposite sex. Sreekar creates a symphonic seamless movement from one husband to another, sometimes joining segments in Susanna's life with visuals that would otherwise seem incompatible.

The husbands are all played by actors who have no qualms in stripping away their vanity to become the kind of suave but duplicitous untrustworthy spouses who cheat and betray for the sake of the opposite emotion to love. Irrfan Khan as a wolf in poet's clothing, Naseeruddin Shah as the affable old Bengali dietician (his Bengali accent is more dead-on than any true-blue Bengalis) and John Abraham as a stereotypical rock musician gone to poppy-seed, are pitch-perfect in their creating a drama of the callous for Priyanka's character.

But it's Neil Nitin Mukesh as her first legless army-man husband whose display of clenched menace jolts you.

As a storyteller Vishal Bhardwaj has never been more in command of his language. He punctuates Susanna's story with bouts of unexpected humour and poetry. Providentially the murders are committed in ways that appear more humorous than savage. And that's both a good and a bad thing.

The narrative shows a rare understanding of the gender dynamics and the sexual tensions between men and women. Priyanka Chopra's interaction with the unctuous and closet-horny police officer Anu Kapoor delectably illustrates the fable of the Temptress & The Besotted. And by the way Viagara never seemed funnier.

Priyanka Chopra goes from husband-to-husband with a mocking sigh of resigned surrender. She is not a victim. But neither is she the hero of the bizarre web of destruction and delusion that her character weaves around her.

Priyanka Chopra a middle-aged lady in 7 Khoon Maaf?

Priyanka Chopra a middle-aged lady in 7 Khoon Maaf?: It takes an elaborate make-up session to change any actor’s age on screen, but to portray an aged character convincingly requires more than just right looks. Priyanka Chopra understood this well while playing a middle-aged woman in 7 Khoon Maaf.

In the movie, Priyanka’s character ages from 20 to 65 as she marries seven husbands in the course of her life. Priyanka says in an interview with a news agency that playing the middle-aged woman was most tough.

“It was a challenge that Vishal sir gave me. The transformation is very subtle. I observed the women around me and how they carried themselves in a certain age. There is no drastic change in my character. But the interim period of 40s and 50s when she is not young and not so old was the most difficult but Vishal helped me with that,” Priyanka is quoted to have said.

The 28-year-old said what was particularly difficult was to understand the psyche of a middle-aged lady.

“Ageing was not bad, but for me understanding the psyche of my character was very difficult. I had to portray her in a way that everyone empathises with her despite the fact that she kills seven people without remorse,” she said.

The movie has Priyanka paired with seven actors: Neil Nitin Mukesh, John Abraham, Irrfan Khan, Russian actor Aleksandr Dyachenko, Annu Kapoor, Nasseruddin Shah, and his son Vivaan Shah.

The film, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, releases on Friday.

Sachin Tendulkar, Priyanka Chopra at Census 2011 Promotion

Sachin Tendulkar, Priyanka Chopra at Census 2011 Promotion: Cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar and Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra will encourage people to be counted in Census 2011 when they appear in television spots.

The television advertisements are part of a wider campaign that started on February 2 and will go upto February 28, the dates when the Population Enumeration Phase of the 15th Census will be held.

"Sachin is an icon and is very popular as far as young persons are concerned, and if he is spreading a message then everybody would like to follow. He''s a star in himself, so is Priyanka," Chinmoy Chakravorty, Consultant to Registrar General of India, told PTI.

The two icons are not brand ambassadors in the traditional sense, but they will spread the message that everyone should make themselves counted and cooperate with enumerators or the foot soldiers who will ask questions and collect data from households, he added.

The publicity campaign will be in 12 languages and has been built up with an approximate cost of Rs 38 crore for the second phase, Chakravorty said.

"Priyanka and Sachin both will be requesting the people that they have been part of the exercise and requesting them (viewers) to participate," Suman Prashar, Consultant to RGI, said on the ads that will be telecast.

Chopra will also be seen engaging female viewers to talk about what work they do and that in addition to other details will be used to gather genders details in the Census'' result, something which is often "masked" by "biases", she added.

"The enumerator should be given due importance and the questions they ask should be duly answered because Tendulkar has answered all the questions," Chakravorty said on what the purpose of the TV commercials is.

"When one sees repeatedly on TV, or hear them on the radio or even in the print ads then they get sensitised. People think that ''Yes, these are important issues I should correctly answer the questions,''" he added.

The national campaign is being complemented by local campaigns by state Census Directorates which are using local mediums like wall paintings and regional languages and dialects to spread the message.

Tendulkar and Chopra have not charged for appearing in the advertisements, they added.

Priyanka Chopra exclusive interview

Priyanka Chopra exclusive interview: Priyanka Chopra is running late but that doesn’t stop her from sharing hairstyle tips with college students or posing for photos with excited fans, while also finding the time to do interviews and shoot for promotions.

The 28-year-old admits this is what her typical day is like and that she sometimes works for 20 hours a day without a break. All that hard work may be paying off as Chopra is one of Bollywood’s most successful heroines today, bagging prime projects and carrying films on her own shoulders.

Chopra spoke to Reuters about her new film “Saat Khoon Maaf”, roles for actresses in Bollywood and why she doesn’t mind male actors getting paid more in the film industry.

Q: Traditionally, leading ladies in Bollywood are pretty strait-jacketed. What made you want to play a woman who marries seven times and then kills all her husbands?

A: “Because I pave my own path and I don’t like following rules. I don’t like convention. I want my own space. It’s a small space, but I’m very possessive about it.”

Q: Do you think roles for actresses in Bollywood are changing?

A: “I hope so and I am hoping that I have something to do with it.

That’s what people say -- that I spearheaded it with ‘Fashion’ where a film with a heroine in the lead took a good opening. I’m so glad that films like ‘No One Killed Jessica’ did so well, because it shows that good movies are appreciated and the gender of the protagonist doesn’t matter at all.”

Q: But no matter how well these films do, male actors do get paid a lot more than female actors do. Do you grudge that?

A: “But their films also make that kind money. I don’t grudge them that at all. Their films make 150 crores, 300 crores, so they deserve to get paid what they get. The day my films start making that kind of money, I will also get paid that much. I have started slowly and my films are creating a niche of their own. At least we are getting opportunities now, so we have to make the best of them and learn to accept that we are in a male-dominated society. We live in a male-dominated country, forget the film industry. So, the fact that we can create a space of our own is good enough.”

Q: When you are playing a woman who kills her husbands, what is the toughest part about a character that seems so negative?

A: “That, at heart, she is a good girl. She’s a good girl. You feel bad for her, for her life. To convey that was difficult for me.

‘Saat Khoon Maaf’ is not a thriller -- it’s a black comedy thriller.

It’s not a ‘Dostana’ or a ‘Golmaal’ -- it’s a sinister comedy, which is a space India is not familiar with, which is why everyone is slotting it. So you may not guffaw with laughter, but you will come out thinking ‘they deserve to die’. That’s the quirkiness of the film.”

Q: Can you think of any other contemporary actress playing this role?

A: “Umm…I really can’t. For me, Susanna’s me. I can’t imagine her as anyone else. Actually, maybe… I have absolutely no idea. You should ask Vishal (Bhardwaj) this.”

Q: You recently had income-tax raids at your house. Why aren’t financial dealings in Bollywood transparent as yet? Have things changed since the time you came in?

A: “I don’t know. But yes, things have changed. We have become more corporate. But film stars do make news, we are always spoken about. We earn above a certain line of income, so it is natural that we attract attention. But there is a lot of transparency now, because you cannot be any other way.”

'7 Khoon Maaf' is a Priyanka Chopra's film: Neil Nitin Mukesh

'7 Khoon Maaf' is a Priyanka Chopra's film: Neil Nitin Mukesh: It’s rare to see a Bollywood movie where, despite the presence of seven male actors, it’s the female lead who hogs the limelight. Well, that’s the case with maverick director Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film 7 Khoon Maaf.

Priyanka Chopra is getting all the attention for playing the hubby-slaying wife in the movie that also stars the likes of Neil Nitin Mukesh, John Abraham, Irrfan Khan, Naseeruddin Shah, Anu Kapoor and a Russian actor.

Neil, who plays an army Major Rodriques in the film, says the male actors are equally pivotal to the plot.

“So if the girl is important so are her seven husbands. The story would have been incomplete even without one of them. The movie has a great and huge cast,” said Neil.

However, even he couldn’t deny that the movie ultimately belongs to Priyanka.

“Of course it's her film. But we seven husbands are like her support systems. If not for us, whom would she kill!”

7 Khoon Maaf is slated to release on February 18.
