Box Office Report: ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’ vs ‘Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji’: Last Friday saw as many as five releases, but except Yeh Saali Zindagi no other movie could start off well at the box office. Hum Dono (Rangeen), Tum Hi Toh Ho, United Six and Utt Pataang -- all had very low collections over the weekend.
Sudhir Mishra’s dark romantic tale Yeh Saali Zindagi collected around Rs 1.10-1.20 crore approx on its first day. The movie picked up on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, it collected Rs 1.60 crore and did a business of Rs 1.75 crore aprox on Sunday. The movie is expected to collect Rs 6.50 crore approx in its first week.
Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji continues its run at the box office. Though the movie had mixed response it fared well in its first week with the collection of Rs 21 crore. But the collections are down by around 70% which is not good for the film.
Coming to Aamir Khan’s production Dhobi Ghat, the movie did the business of Rs 1.25 crore approx in its second week. The two-week total now is of around Rs 13.75 crore. The movie is not a hit.
Get ready for Akshay Kumar’s film Patiala House which is releasing coming Friday.

Gym instructors protest against Emraan Hashmi
Gym instructors protest against Emraan Hashmi; Emraan Hashmi’s convincing portrayal of a womanizing gym instructor in Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji has upset real people in the profession.
A group of gym instructors in Nagpur got together to show their protest against Emraan Hashmi. Showing their protest, they blackened the face of the actor on the movie’s posters at Smruti Cinema; they also tore down the posters and burned them along with an effigy of the actor.
In Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, Emraan plays a gym instructor who keeps hitting on his female clients all the time, bedding a few in the process.
This portrayal was seen as insulting to their profession by some gym instructors in Nagpur who also demanded the movie to be taken off from Smruti cinema.
However, the movie is continuing to run at the theatre.

Box Office Report: ‘Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji’ VS ‘Dhobi Ghat’
Box Office Report: ‘Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji’ VS ‘Dhobi Ghat’: After a dull start on Friday, Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji picked up on Saturday and Sunday, but movie couldn’t do much dhamaal at the box office. This Madhur Bhandarkar film had an average first weekend of around Rs 14.50 crore approx.
Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji collected Rs 3.95 crore approx on Friday, Rs 4.85 crore approx on Saturday and Rs 5.75 crore approx on Sunday. Though it’s decent till now, as per trade reports, a big jump and good second weekend is possible for the film because there are no major releases this week except Yeh Saali Zindagi.
Coming to Dhobi Ghat, the movie collected Rs 13 crore in its first week but saw a major drop on eighth day. The movie may have to struggle to touch the Rs 15 crore mark. This Aamir Khan production though not successful in India is well received at the overseas market. The film collected around $950,000 (Rs 4.25 crore) from all the overseas market that includes United Kingdom, North America, UAE and Australia.
Another film that is doing extremely well overseas is Yamla Pagla Deewana. The collection of the movie has nearly touched $2.5 million (Rs 11.25 crore) from all markets. The movie is reportedly doing superb business in Canada which can be compared to the hits like Singh is Kinng, 3 Idiots and Mel Karade Rabba (Punjabi).

Box Office Report: 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' up after down start
Box Office Report: 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' up after down start: Madhur Bhandarkar’s foray into a different stream has been met with mixed response from the critics and viewers alike. Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji took a dull start at box office on Friday but picked up slightly in the evening.
The movie, starring a host of actors including Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi, Omi Vaidya, Shazahn Padamsee, Shruti Haasan and Shraddha Das, saw a 40 percent response at most urban centres on Friday morning. The collections went up slightly in the evening and are expected to rise, or at least remain steady, throughout the weekend.
The fact that Ajay Devgan’s films have been doing well lately might give heart to the producers and distributors who are hopeful that the collections will rise considerably in the coming days.
On the other hand, Aamir Khan’s Dhobi Ghat rounded off its first week with a collection of Rs. 13 crore net. The film is more of an arthouse cinema and perhaps that’s why it fared shockingly low at box office compared with Aamir’s previous blockbusters.
Meanwhile, the Deol storm is continuing unabated through North India as their film Yamla Pagla Deewana is on the cusp of touching the Rs. 50 crore mark after its two weeks at theatres.

Child within every man that's why 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji'
Child within every man that's why 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji': They say men never grow up and filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is exploring this pyche of men in a humorous way through his new romantic comedy 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' releasing Friday.
Starring Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi and Omi Vaidya, 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' is the slice of life movie that talks about three men and their encounters with love. Shazahn Padmasee, Shruti Haasan and debutante Shraddha Das will play their love interests respectively.
Naren Ahuja (Ajay) is in his thirties and is going through divorce. While nursing his broken heart following a failed marriage, Naren meets vibrant and bubbly June Pinto (Shazahn) and can't stop himself from falling in love with this young girl.
Milind Kelkar (Omi) is a naive poet and idealistic lover. He develops a liking for an ambitious and practical Gunjan Sarkar (Shraddha) who is determined to follow her dreams.
But Abhay (Emraan), a charming casanova, is different. His mantra in life is money and women. But his life too takes a turn after an encounter with Nikki (Shruti), a modern girl who knows her needs and speaks her mind. He too experiences love, an emotion he had always stayed away from.
According to director Bhandarkar, the film is a funny take on love, with real-life relatable characters, and shows to what extent people would go to achieve it or avoid it.
Bhandarkar is known for making hard-hitting and realistic films like 'Chandni Bar', 'Fashion' and 'Jail' which garnered critical acclaim as well as box office success.
'Chandni Bar', starring Tabu and Atul Kulkarni, depicted hardships of women working in dance bars, while 'Fashion' explored the glamorous but dark world of modelling. The film starred Priyanka Chopra in the lead.
His last outing 'Jail' put the spotlight on cruel realities faced by prisoners in jail. Although the film didn't do well at the box-office, it was indeed applauded by critics.
With 'Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji', Bhandarkar attempts to move away from serious cinema and take the audience on a laughter ride. However, the filmmaker is adamant that his stamp and signature style will be evident in the film.
Just like his director, Emraan, known for playing edgy roles in 'Murder', 'Gangster - A Love Story' and 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai', is trying comedy for the first time.
Omi has expectations riding high because this is his second release after blockbuster '3 Idiots' and the actor admits this has been a challenging role for him as he plays a Maharashtrian and he had to ensure that his accent is perfect.
Last year brought a mixed response for Ajay's films. While 'Golmaal 3' and 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai' and 'Raajneeti' were hits, his home production 'Toonpur Ka Superhero' and 'Aakrosh' failed to impress the audiences.
Ajay hopes to start the new year on a good note with 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji', which is the solo release this week.

Music Launching of Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji : Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan and the cast and crew of the film Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji attended the release of the film's music album in Mumbai. Interacting with media persons at Cinemax on Thursday, director Madhur Bhandarkar lauded Pritam Chakraborty, the music director of the movie.

"Music of the film is such that it takes the movie ahead. Like the trend of my other films the music of this film takes the story and screenplay ahead," he added. Devgn termed the movie as an exclusive comedy that would entertain the young and the old alike.
"When you see the film you will feel that such comedy only Madhur can make because as Emraan Hashmi said that it a slice of life. It looks very real and it is a comedy film. It is not a slam stack comedy; it is a situational comedy, which I think is very apt for Madhur," said Devgn.

'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' Madhur Bhandarkar's latest Film - First Look
'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' Madhur Bhandarkar's latest Film: Get inside the theatre, have a fun time, and come out refreshed".
These words aren't exactly something you'd hear from a film-maker who, in the past has attracted the audiences with his thought-provoking, topical, women-centric drama's that non-voyeuristically peep into punitive reality. But that's Madhur Bhandarkar for you. The man who rose to an unexpected prominence with his experimental yet firmly commercial films like Corporate, Traffic Signal, Page 3 and Fashion, is ready to catch you off-guard and make you chuckle with his first romantic comedy, Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji which he unveiled in Mumbai over the weekend.
The film -- which deals with three men who cope with modern women and contemporary liaisons resulting in a fun, roller-coaster ride of emotions -- stars Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Omi Vaidya, Shraddha Das and Shazahn Padamsee.
"This is the first time I am making a slice of life romantic comedy and I hope as people have loved my earlier films, they will definitely accept this movie too. The way DTBHJ is shaping up I am sure it will be a treat to watch," he says of his latest enterprise.
So what triggered such a departure from his previous works?
"Nothing in particular, I just wanted to make a feel-good funny film that will have people laughing as they come out of the theatres,'' he says.
"Even though I've created fiction, it is within the parameters of reality, as is the case with my films. You'll like it," he candidly pours his heart out adding, ''I've been fortunate to achieve critical as well as public acclaim and I hope I maintain that trend.''
